Growing up, my mother’s favorite line was, “Do what I say, not as I do.” I never agreed with that way of thinking. My philosophy has always been to question everything and take nothing for face value.
I’ve always believed that if you lead by example and practice what you preach, then the message will be much clearer. Why anyone would just believe what someone says without investigating it for themselves I’ll never know. I guess that’s why we never saw eye to eye.
If ever I have children, I plan on raising them with the principles to explore life for themselves. Question everything and never believe anything you hear just because someone older than you / of authority told you to. Research, seek and find the answers for yourself. Only then will you truly learn the lesson.
I pray that you that’s reading this finds the courage you need to find the answers you seek. Whatever is troubling your heart, pray about it and look towards the sky for the answers. Keep your heart open and your mind running. Allow it to flourish with the knowledge that’s out there. Never stop seeking, never stop reading and never stop believing in yourself. You can do anything you set your mind to. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.
