Everyday, I wake up and immediately turn to the word of God. Through bible apps, such as my favorite YouVersion, I’m able to keep up with my daily scripture readings. After everything I’ve been through, I’ve found that I crave the knowledge and guidance of God, The Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ each and every day. Yup, I need to hear God everyday along with the power of the whole Holy Trinity to help me navigate through this crazy world we reside in! That’s because during my darkest times in my spiritual wilderness, I needed the word of God to get me through each second, of each minute, of every single day. Yes, I was that desperate for an overhaul life change and renewing of my faith and spirit because I had lost all hope in myself and my entire life!!!
So, everyday I need my daily dose of encouragement, wisdom, loving knowledge and comfort that only comes from reading and spending time in God’s word. Thanks to YouVersion’s Bible app, which offers daily devotionals on every topic imaginable as well as loads of Bible translations like my favorite New Living Translation (aka NLT), they make it so much easier for me to stay in constant reading, meditation and prayer by making navigating the Bible and understanding God’s word simple and easily accessible.
Growing up, I must admit that I was never a fan of reading the Bible. I thought it was boring, not relatable to my life and unreliable in my daily guidance and struggles into womanhood. Boy, has that notion changed. Now, I’m glad to admit to you that I was dead wrong! The Bible is the best guide for each and every one of our lives. Not only does it teach us about Jesus Christ, the love of God and the warming guidance of the Holy Spirit, but it also shows us that we are not alone. The people in the Bible encountered the same exact things we are dealing with today. Sex, drugs, alcohol, death, hatred, taxes, money, natural disasters, depression, grief, fear, anxiety, stress, worry, love, marriage, peace, happiness, abuse, infidelity, famine, sickness, health are just some of the many topics covered in the Bible.
Due to my extensive background in trials and tribulations, I’ve found myself turning to the word of God daily because it helps guide my life. It keeps me encouraged as I navigate the daily chaos of the world around me. Had it not been for me getting into the word of God, I would not be here today writing to tell you of the Good News. When I lost my mind, I found my life. When I found myself drowning in sorrow, grief and depression, it was the word of God that kept me going. When I wanted to give up on everything including my life, it was the word and power of God that kept me alive. When I feel sick in my body, reading the word of God breathes strength and healing back into my bones. When I’m feeling overwhelmed with the constant natural disasters, hatred, racism, sexisms, prejudices and chaos of the world, turning to the word of God keeps me encouraged that trouble don’t last always.
So today’s post is short, sweet and to the point — GET INTO THE WORD OF GOD!
““Look, I am coming soon! Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book. ”” (Revelation 22:7 NLT)
If you want to cultivate a powerful, everlasting relationship with God, you must do like Jesus and get into the word. Upon diving into the Word, your life will begin to shift. Slowly but surely, you’ll start seeing things a lot differently. I’m a living witness that by following the teachings and knowledge given to us freely in the Bible, your surroundings, circumstances and whole outlook on life will change.
I used to think it was cliche to hear people say, “Read the Word,” until I got into the word myself. It may had taken me losing everything, including my mind and beloved grandmother; however, it was the best thing that could’ve ever happened for my life. Now, I have a much better relationship with God than I could’ve ever imagined. Due to my daily studies of the word of God, I have a newfound love and appreciation for myself and my faith. I now have a closeness with Christ that I’d always longed for but never thought I’d ever be worthy enough to have.
“Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”” (Luke 11:28 NLT)
So I hope you take my advice and get into the word. I pray today that when you open your bible / bible app that the word of God penetrates your mind and begins to transform your heart and shift the atmosphere in your life and home. May you learn more about yourself as you search for understanding of God’s loving word. In Jesus name, I pray you learn to turn to the word of God and trust solely in the Holy Spirit to guide your understanding of what you read as it will help you apply it to your life. Again, in Jesus name, I pray all these things come to pass over your life. Amen.
“Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike.” (Ephesians 6:17-19 NLT)

Right on Andrea, there is power in the word, and its like a double- edge sword. Unfortunately “get into the word” can sound a bit cliché but as followers of Christ its imperative for us to get into it. God speaks on those pages and if we want to hear his voice its one way we can hear him. Great post my dear!
Have you written a post about your story/testimony, i would be keen to read it
