Speak The Word Pt. III: Believe What You Speak & It’ll Come To Pass!!!

The above scripture in the picture is from Revelations 3:8 NLT and totally speaks to my current state in life. Last week, I shared with you from the topic, “Speak The Word Pt II,” which talked about speaking things into your life and how they can manifest. Today, I want to share with you how speaking things into your life goes even further when you believe it’s already coming to pass.

Rewinding back a bit to Thanksgiving, as I’ve shared with you guys before, I have a gluten allergy and eat a vegan diet. Due to my dietary allergies and healthy lifestyle choices, I always cook my own dinner while someone else in my family will cook for the rest of the family. This year, my grandmother decided to do most of the cooking with the help of a few family members bringing over their special dishes. Our family tradition has always been that dinner starts at 5 o’clock. However, this year, dinner wasn’t ready on time. Since it was almost time for dinner, and my grandmother was still trying to finish cooking, I along with a cousin assisted my grandmother in finishing cooking and preparing the dinner table. After spending the whole night before cooking my own food and now racing to help my grandmother, I was exhausted to say the least. Thankfully, with a little bit of help and elbow grease, everyone ate well and had a good time. In the end, there was so much food leftover.

After everyone ate, I had a massive headache and my feet ached, so I decided to go upstairs to lie down for a minute. Before I knew it, a minute turned quickly into 20 minutes and I was starting to receive text messages from my mother wondering where I’d gone off to. Trying my best to gather myself, I got up and went back downstairs to be with my family. I found an empty seat and sat in it gracious that I’d be sitting and wouldn’t have to do much of anything for my family were already deep into political conversation.

Although the conversation was getting a bit irritating, as all political issues generally do, it wasn’t long before I noticed what my grandmother was doing. While everyone else was relaxing and talking, she was trying to clean up all of the dishes and clear away the food by herself. I knew this wasn’t right so I got up and proceeded to help her. Not long after barging into the kitchen and seeing the stacked tons of dishes covering every countertop and stove, I quickly decided to completely take over her shift. I told her to focus on putting the food into proper storing containers while I wash the dishes. Thankfully, I wasn’t alone. Seeing me now washing dishes, one of my friends came in to help dry the dishes and put them away. Thank God for that because I needed all the help I could get.

After well over an hour of scrubbing, we had finally finished cleaning the entire kitchen. Every dish had been properly cleaned and put away, all the food had been placed into the refrigerator and every crumb and grease stain had been scrubbed from the counters and stovetop. By the time we finished, everyone had left and I had a major backache to add on top of my already aching body. My grandmother thanked us for our service and we laughingly joked with her that we’ll be awaiting our paychecks in the mail. My grandmother went upstairs to bed and I wrapped up the last piece of sweet potato pie for my friend to take as a tasty thank you. We quickly said our goodbyes and I went back into the kitchen to wash out the remaining pie dish. Afterwards, I ate and went to bed thinking nothing more of the night.

The next day, I woke up to a pinching, throbbing sensation coming from my body. When I tried to get out of bed, I felt shots of pain stemming from my right arm and hand. Groggily I looked and there it was. My whole right arm, wrist and hand was completely swollen and numb. I tried to make a fist and couldn’t move anything. Since I am right-handed, I thought it was a severe case of carpal tunnel. With being a writer, I’d been feeling symptoms of it for some time now though I never went to the doctors. I’ve studied medicine so I knew going to the doctors for carpal tunnel wasn’t necessary for there were many homeopathic remedies to help with the pain and discomfort. So, I got up, went to apply some ice to my right wrist, arm and hand and decided I’d take it easy for the day.

The next day, Saturday November 25th, I had plans on going to a family gathering. When I got up, I noticed my right arm, wrist and hand seemed to be getting worse. It appeared to had doubled in size. It ached so bad I began to cry. I tried putting more ice on it but it wasn’t helping much. This is my writing hand, how can I write in this current state of affliction? I thought to myself. Crying, I prayed to God asking him to please take the pain away and alleviate the swelling because I needed to get back to writing and spreading His word. After releasing that prayer into the atmosphere, I went to take a shower, gently allowing the warm water to provide therapy to my seemingly broken body. Needless to say, I didn’t make it to my family’s affair. Instead, I slept the day away crying, praying and meditating on God’s word in the Bible as I waited for my prayers to be answered.

By the late evening, my grandmother had returned from the party and noticed how large my arm, wrist and hand had gotten. She carried my food to my room and proceeded to her own quarters. After eating, I went into her room sobbing and complaining. She asked had I taken any medication for the pain. I told her no and she shook her head. Digging into her medicine box, she gave me some Bio-freeze vapor rubs and Ibuprofen. She asked, “I wonder what could be causing it to get worse. Usually carpel tunnel doesn’t get this bad.” Right after she said that, I blurted out, “Maybe it’s an allergic reaction. Now that you said that, I’m thinking I should take some Benadryl too and see if that helps my pain and swelling. I didn’t think about that, even though I was washing the dishes and touching all of that stuff that had gluten in it.” She shook her head again and said, “Well we do have gloves. Why didn’t you use them?” I foolishly shrugged at my mishap, embarrassed because I had completely forgotten the gloves. I took the meds, along with my Benadryl and said a prayer asking God to please take the pain away and alleviate the swelling so I can get back to writing. Then, I went to bed.

Over the next few days, I continued up the prayers decreeing strength, wellness and health over my body. I wanted to get back to writing badly. I knew my book wasn’t finished and I had more to share with you guys so I desperately needed the Lord to step in quick and heal my body. With prayer, I continued taking the Ibuprofen and Benadryl. Two days after my grandmother and I made the connection that it might’ve been an allergic reaction, my swelling started to decrease drastically. On that day, Tuesday, November 28th, I wrote “Speak The Word Pt II,” believing in my heart that the day would come that my hand, wrist and arm would be pain free and have no swelling. I may had been in a lot of pain writing it, but I knew I had to trust that God, who sees all, would continue to heal my swelling and pain.

“Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.”

‭‭(James‬ ‭2:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

It’s been a rough ten days since Thanksgiving but I’m glad to report that prayer works. By speaking healing over my life and believing God will do it, the swelling in my right arm, wrist and hand is gone. Although the carpel tunnel still remains, I’m able to get back to writing which makes me very happy. I know that God is working and will continue to work on my wrist and hand. I’m thankful that I’m able to get back to doing things for myself again. Not having the full function and ability of my right arm and hand left me feeling miserable. I hadn’t realized just how important the body is until now. Thinking of this reminds me of this scripture which says,

“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit. Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything? But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. How strange a body would be if it had only one part! Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.” In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen, while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.”

‭‭(1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:12-27‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

I hope you who’s reading this understands just how important you are and how speaking the right words into your life can change things around. Regardless of how you’re currently feeling or the state of agonizing pain, discomfort, heartache, depression, fear or whatever you are in, you must speak the word of God into your life. You have to speak life into dead situations. You have to speak light when darkness wants to take over. You have to speak healing when sickness takes over your body. And, you must speak dreams and goals you set for yourself even when you don’t seem them existing or have no idea how they’ll work out. Don’t take for granted the little things. No matter how big or small your problems are, speak the word and let God cause things to shift / change in your life. The power of life and death lies in what you say!

“Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.”

‭‭(Proverbs‬ ‭15:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

So above all else, SPEAK THE WORD OF GOD OVER YOUR ENTIRE LIFE and watch what happens next! Trust what I’m saying, for as you can see, I know from experience.

Sincerely with love,
