Everything Has A Season! What Season Are You In???

When it comes to change, I’ve heard people say things like, “It’s easier said, then done,” or “It’s hard to change,” or “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” After the storm I’ve been through, I come to disagree with these statements.

I believe we all use excuses like these when we don’t want to do the hard work of letting go. We all believe these lies because it’s easier to let things continue as they are rather than changing them. We all, at some point, have allowed fear to sink in and keep us hostage from making the necessary changes we need to make in order to grow. As a result, we’d rather choose chaos and dysfunction rather than having happy, healthy, wholesome, fulfilled lives and relationships. Our fight or flight defense mechanism is to turn to that crutch of comfort and familiarity rather than face our fears and see where the changes may lead.

I get it! We do these things because no one likes the unknown. Keeping things the same means we know exactly what we’re getting into. Change brings too many undetermined possibilities. So, we say things like the comments above and we hold onto people that keep us standing in place because we fear moving forward to a place we’ve never been before. We start to believe that change will undoubtedly be our downfall.

#SorryNotSorry to burst your bubble but this thinking is not God. Those mindsets are not words from God. They are whispers of the enemy used to trick your mind into thinking that you cannot go after whatever it is that God has for you.

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” ‭‭(Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

God wants to do extraordinary things in each of our lives, we just have to trust in Him. Unfortunately, many times we don’t allow God to move the way He wants to move because we want to be the one controlling the wheel. We want new things, blessings, opportunities and the right people to come into our lives, but we are unwilling to relinquish control and do the work needed in order for us to achieve and receive those things. We’d much rather keep holding onto the old things, dead situations or people that God is trying to remove us from because we believe what we know right now is better than what’s to come in the unknown. The reality is that we’ve become content with the familiar and comfortable where we are, hence keeping us stagnant from our maturity and growth in Christ. By holding onto this mind frame of fearing change, unbeknownst to us, we are letting the Devil win!

If you want to walk into a new, prosperous season, then check yourself and your surroundings. Make sure you have the right team lined up to play defense against the enemy’s attacks. In this season and the next, you’ll need to know who you can trust to pray for you and who’s actually preying on you. NEWSFLASH: Not everybody wants to see you win! Don’t let that reality keep you from going after what God has for you. Fear cannot hinder your next season unless you allow it to keep you from walking into it.

Consider these four questions:

  1. How bad do I want to walk into my next season?
  2. Do I want to hold onto people or do I want to go after the life that God has for me?
  3. Do I really want change or do I want things to remain the same?
  4. Am I willing to do the work and put my trust solely in the Lord?

Every person I lost hurt at the time, but I no longer cry over them for I now understand the purpose they played in my life. Every tear I shed no longer feels wasted for I know that they were the waters needed to grow the seed that God has planted inside of me. When I relinquished control over my life, I found a better me. Now, I smile and have a peaceful heart and spirit surrounding me because I let go and let Jesus take the wheel.

Everything happens for a reason and every life has a season. Learn to trust your journey. Let yourself grow and don’t be stagnant! Otherwise, you’ll lead a life full of regrets because you remained stuck living unfulfilled instead of letting go and walking into your next season. I believe this world is at a crossroads and many still need to decide which path to take. We can only walk into our promised season when we let go of the things weighing us down. God can free us from these things but it’s up to us to allow His work to be done. He freely gives us all a choice at having a fulfilled life in Christ. Yet still, only we have the authority to choose the life we want to live.

I pray that you trust God by allowing Him to help you make the best decisions for your life. Change may feel hard in the beginning but Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”” Go to God and allow Him show you the way. Put all your trust and cares into Him and watch the miracles start to happen in your life. You have the power to walk into your best season. You just have to be willing and open to taking the path and doing the work. I pray you remain steadfast and ready for the next level that God has for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Sincerely with love,
