Have you ever heard someone say, “My life just flashed before my eyes?” If you have, that just happened to me. If you haven’t, allow me to explain. There was another attempt on my life, but to God be the glory that His angels covered and protected me.
As I was driving along the highway heading towards my doctor’s office, I was almost in a serious car accident. It’s a rainy day and the roads are slippery. I was saying a prayer to myself as I was listening to “We Three Kings” by Kirk Franklin. My asthma was starting to flare up and I was worried that I would have a full blown asthma attack. I pulled to a stoplight and noticed that the car in front of me was taking up two lanes. Initially, I thought about pulling on the side of the car into the slither of the lane that was left, but I shrugged it off and decided to stay where I was. Other cars pulled up into the lane next to me and I thought to myself, “Darn it, I should’ve done what they did and moved over.”
“Be my rock of safety where I can always hide. Give the order to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.” (Psalms 71:3 NLT)
Thank God I didn’t. As soon as the light turned green, the car in front of me and the car on the side of me pulled off and a speedy driver ran the red light barely missing the car on the side and hitting the car directly in front of me. The front of the car was blown off completely and the motorist who caused the accident, skidded down the road. Luckily, a police officer was parked just a few feet away and the driver who was hit, got out of the car without a scratch. I, on the other hand, was shook. My heart was racing and my nerves were shot. Immediately, tears streamed down my face. All I could say was, “Thank you Jesus!”
“That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long.”
(Psalms 71:8 NLT)
Twice in one week the enemy has tried to attack me. The first I told you about the other day: click here to read what happened. Yet, through each attempt, the Lord had me covered. While I feel saddened by what happened to the vehicle in front of me, I thank God that it wasn’t me. It’s so crazy to think that had I went with my first initial plan to pull up on the side of the car that was in front of me, all just to get in front of that driver, I might not be here to share this story. Gratefully, the Lord saw a plot waiting to happen and foiled the enemy’s plan.
“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” (Proverbs 16:9 NLT)
I wish I knew what the enemy sees in me. I figure he must have some idea as to what I will become if he’s been trying so hard to knock me down. Try, try, try as he might, God continues to block every attempt. Thank you Jesus for the blood that was shed for me!!! Though I may not understand all of what I hold inside of me, I know that the Lord finds me worth saving. This is why I persevere through all of the storms I’ve been through. This is why I continue to walk by faith and not by sight trusting the intuitive voice of the Holy Spirit to guide my steps.
“For we live by believing and not by seeing.” (2 Corinthians 5:7 NLT)
Seeing how blessed I am, and how determined the devil is to bring me down, keeps me going. Although I may not see everything the Lord is doing, and at times may think He’s running a bit behind schedule, I’m surely glad He sees all and knows what’s best for me. I may think He’s moving too slow, but in the words of my nana, “He may not come when you want Him, but He’ll be there right on time.” Even at times when I can’t see how things will work out, and I feel myself getting distraught over plans I’ve made for myself and the fact that they aren’t going according to my timeline, I keep on thanking God for He keeps on blessing me in spite of my foolish concept of time. I know He’s working on a master plan for the great work that He’s started in me.
Today, I leave you with this message: trust God and trust your journey. Also, trust that intuitive voice inside of you known as the Holy Spirit. You may not know nor understand why things are happening the way they are, and like me, you may feel like the devil is picking on you, but just know that God has a plan. If the enemy is attacking you, or you feel like everything is going wrong in your life, fret not for that means that you’re on the cusp of your breakout season! You have an inheritance on your life. Remember what I told you the other day:
This is why the enemy is attacking so hard. The enemy doesn’t want to see God’s children win. He doesn’t want to see any of us blessed and prosperous. Why, because the devil is a jealous, foul, fallen angel who hates that God loves you and that God continues to fight for you and chooses you every single time. Through all of our mess, God still saw a vessel worth saving. Through all of our sinful ways, God still saw a person He could use to further the truth about Christ and to share in His glorious Kingdom. You wouldn’t be attacked if you didn’t carry something special and excellent deep down inside of you.
“and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.” (1 Peter 1:4 NLT)
“For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.” (Romans 11:29 NLT)
He is the Author and Creator. My book, like yours, is already written. We’re just living this thing called life backwards. There’s something great harboring inside us all. We’re destined for greatness. The enemy’s plots will always be foiled as long as we remain in The Lord. Just as you’ve read from my many honest testimonies in this blog, He always has angels surrounding us ready to fight, protect and cover us from harm.
“Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” (Psalms 23:4 NLT)
I pray you be encouraged today. Know that you are not alone. Whatever attacks the enemy has sent your way, just know that you can make it. You have a sister in me praying for your victory! As long as you have one warrior praying for you, the devil cannot win the battles he throws against you. In Jesus name, your latter days will be greater than your past. Amen. God bless you!!!
Sincerely with love,
